I saw this beehive cake in one of the cake decorating books in a local bookshop. It looked easy to make, so it became one of my projects. It took me quite some time to get the beehive in place as I had to knead and roll the fondant by hand. I wish I have the clay extruder which will save me a lot of time ...hmm... another item to add on to my cake decorating tools. I couldn't get my fondant to be black no matter how much colouring I used. So that's why you see a yellow and blue bee instead of yellow and black. One other option is to make it yellow and brown.

When I took the cake to TTH's place, the kids there were so impressed with the bees. And they liked the fondant although it was rather sweet for me.
