Practice Cake

Had my first cake decorating class last Sunday. As Level 1 involves frosting a cake with buttercream, I had to practise to make sure that I get a smooth cake. Gotta look good in front of my students, ya... :)
Started practising just before Christmas and made the Santa Claus cake. The following weekend, I made the other 3 cakes. There wasn't much planning done and I used whatever ready made flowers that I have. Also searched through my books to get some simple decorations. After all, all I need was just to practise. Gave one cake to my brother and the other two to friends.
Had a little hiccup before class started as we could not locate the keys to the class room. As a result, class started a bit late and I also didn't have much time to get all my materials ready. My students are a fun group of people. There were jokes and laughter throughout the 2 hour class. That really helped me to relax and I felt that the class went quite well. I am now looking forward to the next class :) Meanwhile, I will be preparing for lesson 2 and that involves lots of practice. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect..... so I'm off to practise now!
